Our Story

Knead a Little Love is a sister made bakery and an all-round haven, launched in the midst of lockdown in November 2020. Absolutely everything is handmade in-house and we specialise in vegan doughnuts offering an array of seasonally changing flavours at any one time.

Run by sisters, Jess and Becca, a professionally trained pastry-chef and small business maestra respectively. We run everything from our new bakery in Bethnal Green.

Our customers can come in for a chat, a pastry and a delicious coffee or smoothie or order online for London-wide delivery. We also offer catering for events and weddings all from our central hub.

Pastry queen, Jess, was trained in Patisserie at the world renowned culinary school, Le Cordon Bleu and given her natural flair for the craft, went on to work as a pastry chef in five star hotels in London.

When the pandemic struck in 2020, she became restless along with the majority of the hospitality industry and so she decided to start making vegan doughnuts and selling them from the back of her bike around South London. Word spread and the doughnuts got picked up by several cafes across London.

After a taste of the entrepreneurial life, Jess was on the hunt for more wholesale clients and as luck would have it, was offered a sublet to run a whole cafe in Balham. Off the back of furlough anxiety and an innate need for, not just, family, but community and connection during a confusing and socially deprived time, it made sense to keep it in the family and we decided to join forces, enter Becca.

Becca had always been intrigued by small businesses having managed street markets and supported traders in their first commercial ventures. She later was the general manager, and effective number two to the founder, of a painting school start up and saw first hand the challenges, rewards and all-round rollercoaster that came with being an entrepreneur. 

We went on to establish Knead a Little Love in our bricks and mortar premises, heading up both the kitchen and Front of House of a space in Balham.

 

All our products are made by hand, with fresh ingredients, in-house by our tiny team. All our pastries and bakes are also allergen friendly with our entire doughnut range being vegan, along with a variety of gluten-free tarts, cookies and loaves, plus our new vegan croissant range.
